Fifth Semiannual Meeting of PhD Students of the Biophysics Doctoral Program

On December 5, Anamarija Budimir, MSc. Phys., attended the Fifth Semiannual Meeting of PhD Students of the Biophysics Doctoral Program at the Faculty of Science, University of Split, where she delivered an oral presentation entitled “Modeling and Biophysical Characterization of Helminth-Derived Antimicrobial Peptides.”

First Meeting of Young Biophysicists

On November 14, Anamarija Budimir, MSc. Phys. attended the First Meeting of Young Biophysicists, at the Ruđer Bošković Institute in Zagreb, with an oral presentation titled “Unstructured C-terminal in α-helical antimicrobial peptides modulates their activity”, by A. Budimir, I. Stojan, S. Pacor, L. Krce, T. Rončević, A. Tossi and L. Zoranić.

Tomsilav Rončević Awarded Croatian Science Foundation Funding for Installation Research Project

We are pleased to announce that our team member Assist. Prof. Dr. Tomislav Rončević has been awarded funding by the Croatian Science Foundation to lead a new research project entitled  “Urinary catheters coated with antimicrobial peptides for the suppression of bacterial infections”.

The international conference HealthTech Adria 2025 was held on October 2nd and 3rd at the University of Split, School of Medicine. We are very pleased to announce that, among strong competition, Assoc. Prof. Tomislav Rončević, PhD, and his startup team PeptiFlow won the first prize.

12th International Meeting on Antimicrobial Peptides – IMAP 2025

Our members Larisa Zoranić, Tomislav Rončević, Anamarija Budimir and Iva Stojan attended the 12th International Meeting on Antimicrobial Peptides held in Dublin from August 25-27. Iva won the travel bursary for post-docs. Tomislav held an oral poresentation while Larisa, Iva and Anamarija presented posters.

15th European Biophysics Congress EBSA 2025

Our PhD student Anamarija Budimir and post-doc Iva Stojan won the EBSA scholarship for participation in the 15th EBSA Congress, held in Rome from June 30 to July 4.

The Sixth International Conference on the Mathematics of Neuroscience and AI

From May 27-30, our team members Prof. Dr. Larisa Zoranić and Anamarija Budimir, MSc. Phys. attended the Sixth International Conference on Algorithmic Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Split. This conference featured a rich program spanning topics such as neural data, cognitive science, neural theory,  AI and their intersections with real-world algorithmic challenges.

Prof. Larisa Zorsanić received the Award for Excellence in Scientific Research in Natural Sciences, Natural Field of Physics, for Scientists in Scientific-Teaching Positions at the Faculty of Science, University of Split.

On May 21, our members Larisa Zoranić and Iva Stojan attended the Peptide Chemistry Day 2025 symposium at the University of Zagreb. Larisa Zoranić attended as the invited speaker with presentation “Antimicrobial peptides in the fight against bacterial resistance: progress and challenges ahead”, while Iva Stojan participated with a poster presentation.

On February 22, mentor Larisa Zoranić gave a lesson to students at the Center of Excellence in Natural Sciences (CIP), on the topic “How do liquids flow?”.
