On December 5, Anamarija Budimir, MSc. Phys., attended the Fifth Semiannual Meeting of PhD Students of the Biophysics Doctoral Program at the Faculty of Science, University of Split, where she delivered an oral presentation entitled “Modeling and Biophysical Characterization of Helminth-Derived Antimicrobial Peptides.”

On November 14, Anamarija Budimir, MSc. Phys. attended the First Meeting of Young Biophysicists, at the Ruđer Bošković Institute in Zagreb, with an oral presentation titled “Unstructured C-terminal in α-helical antimicrobial peptides modulates their activity”, by A. Budimir, I. Stojan, S. Pacor, L. Krce, T. Rončević, A. Tossi and L. Zoranić.

We are pleased to announce that our team member Assist. Prof. Dr. Tomislav Rončević has been awarded funding by the Croatian Science Foundation to lead a new research project entitled  “Urinary catheters coated with antimicrobial peptides for the suppression of bacterial infections”.

The international conference HealthTech Adria 2025 was held on October 2nd and 3rd at the University of Split, School of Medicine. We are very pleased to announce that, among strong competition, Assoc. Prof. Tomislav Rončević, PhD, and his startup team PeptiFlow won the first prize.

Our members Larisa Zoranić, Tomislav Rončević, Anamarija Budimir and Iva Stojan attended the 12th International Meeting on Antimicrobial Peptides held in Dublin from August 25-27. Iva won the travel bursary for post-docs. Tomislav held an oral poresentation while Larisa, Iva and Anamarija presented posters.

Our PhD student Anamarija Budimir and post-doc Iva Stojan won the EBSA scholarship for participation in the 15th EBSA Congress, held in Rome from June 30 to July 4.

Prof. Dr. Larisa Zoranić undertook a teaching mobility within the CEEPUs network, at the Institute of Physics (IFPAN), Warsaw, hosted by Prof. Panagiotis Theodorakis.

From May 27-30, our team members Prof. Dr. Larisa Zoranić and Anamarija Budimir, MSc. Phys. attended the Sixth International Conference on Algorithmic Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Split. This conference featured a rich program spanning topics such as neural data, cognitive science, neural theory,  AI and their intersections with real-world algorithmic challenges.

Prof. Larisa Zorsanić received the Award for Excellence in Scientific Research in Natural Sciences, Natural Field of Physics, for Scientists in Scientific-Teaching Positions at the Faculty of Science, University of Split.

On May 21, our members Larisa Zoranić and Iva Stojan attended the Peptide Chemistry Day 2025 symposium at the University of Zagreb. Larisa Zoranić attended as the invited speaker with presentation “Antimicrobial peptides in the fight against bacterial resistance: progress and challenges ahead”, while Iva Stojan participated with a poster presentation.

On February 22, mentor Larisa Zoranić gave a lesson to students at the Center of Excellence in Natural Sciences (CIP), on the topic “How do liquids flow?”. Anamarija Begić attendet the 10th Regional Biophysics Conference & 15th International Summer School of Biophysics, held at the School of Medicine, University of Split, from August 26 to 30.

Ceepus Summer School “Water and Aqueous Solutions through the Measurement of Physicochemical Properties and Computational Modeling” took place at the Faculty of Science, University of Split, from July 7 to 10. Anamarija Begić presented a poster titled “Prediction of structure and features of antimicrobial peptide MESCO2”.

We are excited to announce that this year’s Ceepus Summer School “Water and Aqueous Solutions through the Measurement of Physicochemical Properties and Computational Modeling” will be held at the Faculty of Science, University of Split, July 7-10.

CI SDŽ Project Day – Open Door Day, was held on April 13th, in the School of Science/III. gymnasium in Split. Mentor Larisa Zoranić and assistants Anamarija Begić and Jana Bratanić, helped students present the knowledge and skills they have acquired during this school year in the Center of Excellence.

On November 25th, mentor Larisa Zoranić gave a lesson to students at the Center of Excellence in Natural Sciences, on the topic “Water walkers and surface tension”.

Members of our team, Larisa Zoranić, Tomislav Rončević and Matko Maleš,  attended the 10th International Meeting on Antimicrobial Peptides, held at the University of Trieste in Italy from September 6th to 8th.

On January 14 and 28, mentor Larisa Zoranić gave lessons to students at the Center of Excellence in Natural Sciences, on the topic “What is viscosity?”.

The conference “Physics and philosophy (P&P); Locality and Non-locality in Physics”, was held at the Faculty of Science, University of Split, September 1-2. The aim of this conference was to establish and foster a dialogue between physics and philosophy.

On March 19th, mentor Larisa Zoranić gave a lesson to students at the Center of Excellence in Natural Sciences (CIP), on the topic “Water walkers and surface tension”.

The 9th meeting on Physics and philosophy (P&P) – Summer School on Entropy was held at the Faculty of Science, University of Split, from August 25 to 27. Among the lecturers were some of the leading scientists and philosophers in the field.
