Research group held work meeting on December 01, 2021 at Faculty of Science University of Split, to discuss the results of the second year of the project, and the calendar of activities planned for the next project year.
According to the work plan and the schedule of the scientific activities of the ARGAS project, summer field sampling and research took place at the middle of August. The research activities included seawater sampling by research ship Bios Dva (Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries in Split), and were followed by the membrane filtration, determination of physico-chemical and biological parameters, analysis of sanitary quality, isolation of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, taxonomic profiling of antibiotic-resistant microbial community and quantification of selected antibiotic resistance genes.
The ARGAS field research in winter season was successfully carried out at the end of March on six stations, including the estuary of the river Jadro as well as five stations located across the central Adriatic Sea from Kaštel Sućurac to the island of Vis. The research activities included seawater sampling by research ship Bios Dva (Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries in Split) and membrane filtering of the water samples for analysis of sanitary quality, cultivation of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, taxonomic profiling of antibiotic-resistant microbial community and quantification of clinically relevant antibiotic resistance genes.

The team presented the results of the 1st project’s year, and got acquainted with the expectations and pace of implementation of activities envisaged in the forthcoming period.
